The Beaches at Freedom Mobile Arch

Who was the hottest foursome on stage under the Freedom Mobile Arch on Tuesday night? The surprise guests at the end of the night will certainly have people posting, but Toronto’s The Beaches were still the best girls at the party.

Shortly after sunset, the seven-time Juno Award-winning rockers took the stage for the third show in the 2026 PNE Summer Nights series. In front of a glittering silver platform hosting drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel, sisters Kylie (guitar) and Jordan Miller (lead vocals, bass) stood alongside guitarist Leandra Earl to begin their performance for the cheering crowd.

Known for energizing pop-rock that is intimate and infectious, The Beaches cast a confident performance that is both practiced and candid. The Canadian alt-rock group predominantly played tracks from their latest release, 2025’s No Hard Feelings and their sophomore album, 2023’s Blame My Ex. As the crowd waved their arms and sang along, it was clear, The Beaches were performing for fans that reciprocated their explicit energy and could relate to their heartfelt lyrics.

Interspersed between songs were anecdotes and quips from each of the members that led into the track to follow. From stories of rekindled romances (Earl admits she’s been texting her ex before playing 2025’s "Touch Myself"), to declaring Vancouver the food-capital of Canada (they said it may even be better than their hometown, Toronto). Before launching into 2025’s “Perfect 10”, Enman-McDaniel announced, “Vancouver, you’re a perfect 10.”

The group took a short break from performing to symbolically crown Vancouver’s, “Lesbian of the Year.” Three contestants, chosen in advance from social media, were brought on stage to tell the applauding audience what made them worthy of the title. Their qualifications ranged from being in love with their best friend to knowing how to crochet but the winning contestant, chosen by the loudest cheers and applause from the crowd, won for just loving bush.

At the end of their set, The Beaches played their two viral hits, “Edge of the Earth”, of Off Campus fame and “Blame Brett”, the 2023 hit that went viral after the group posted a behind the scenes-style video of lead singer Jordan Miller recording the vocals on TikTok. Before “Edge of the Earth”, Jordan Miller expressed gratitude for their feature on the hit show Off Campus and the resulting exposure to new fans.

Speaking of Off Campus, the Vancouver crowd was in for a surprise when cast members Ella Bright, Antonio Cipriano, India Fowler and Jalen Thomas Brooks hopped on stage for a brief cameo and joined in for the famous “Blame Brett” hops. The appearance was met with cheers and excitement but the audience didn’t really need the encouragement during what is already a fan-favourite. As the song, and set, neared its end, fans eagerly joined in and chanted “Blame my ex! Blame my ex! Blame my ex!”

After a quick encore, the show came to a final end. Forever the “Last Girls at the Party”, the foursome said goodnight to the captivated crowd just as a few well-timed fireworks exploded into the air outside at the PNE fair.
