Oracle Sisters at the Pearl
For the first time in Vancouver, the Oracle Sisters took the stage. The crowd was ecstatic as they had waited years to see the band.
The group started in Paris in 2017 when Childhood friends Lewis Lazar and Christopher Willatt joined Julia Johansen. Together, they created an indie rock sound rooted in folk traditions from Edinburgh and Dublin. They later added elements of Americana, rock, psychedelia, and soul.

They performed many tracks from their first LP, Hydranism, including “Tramp Like You,” “Hail Mary,” and “RBH". They created the album on a remote Greek island during the pandemic.
The name Oracle Sisters comes from the 1979 film The Warriors. Lazar told Clash Magazine, "We were looking for a gang name that fit our music style."

They also played popular singles like “Asc. Scorpio” and “Dandelion,” which have 74 and 14 million streams on Spotify, respectively. They played songs from their new album, Divinations. This included the twangy bassline of "Marseille" and the dreamy harmonies of "Velveteen."”

Fans serenaded the band, shouting, “We love you!” and “You’re great!” The band responded with dry humour, saying, “We’re more used to rotten vegetables being thrown at us. If you have any, please throw them, and I assure you we’ll play better.”

When the band left the stage, the audience booed loudly. Cheers erupted when they returned for a two-song encore. They played “Modern Love” from Hydranism and the single “I Don’t Wanna Move.” It was a memorable end to their first show in Vancouver.
